Annual General Meeting / Important News
Dear neighbours and friends,
Please mark your calendars for November 18, 2018 from 6:30 – 7:30 pm.
It is time to host our Annual General Meeting for The Lakes Community Association. The AGM will be hosted at the Winterra Clubhouse located at 2532 Shoreline Dr., Lake Country. (Please utilize street parking as space is limited or leave the car and consider an evening walk)
As you may be aware, The Lakes Community Association is comprised of neighbours that value our community and see the importance in having an organized approach to discussing community matters with The District of Lake Country. Over the years The Lakes Community Association has successfully hosted:
- Spring flower basket fundraisers
- Annual clean-ups and pancake breakfast
- Community garage sales
- Movie nights in Apex Park
- Sod laying at Apex and Shoreline Parks
With this upcoming vacancy comes an opportunity to infuse new people and new ideas into the Association. Whether you want to fundraise for a play structure at Shoreline park, host a street hockey tourney at the new Multi-sport box, be the point of contact for traffic concerns, coordinate Block Watch or manage the new website…now is your chance!!
On average 2 hours per month is required and the resigning members will keep volunteering to assist for an easy transition and a passing of the TORCH!! Sadly, without others coming forward to volunteer with their new ideas The Lakes Community Association will unfortunately have to stop its operations. Don’t let this happen to your neighbourhood!!
Please stop in Tuesday November 13th 2018, 7pm at the Winterra Clubhouse to meet other volunteers and learn more about how you can contribute, whether it is a little or a lot.

A Celebration of Volunteers & Community Spirit
Get Involved Lake Country 2018 will be the inaugural “Celebration of Volunteers & Community Spirit”, bringing together non-profit organizations, clubs and interest groups. After a challenging 2017 facing flooding and then
fires, Lake Country’s community spirit seemed to shine even brighter. Local area non-profits came up with the idea to celebrate that community spirit, as well of the contributions of their volunteers, and Get Involved Lake
Country was created. This trade-show style event will bring together organizations and the community at large for face-to-face conversations about causes, services, programs, interests,& opportunities to get involved.

5th Annual Community Clean-up and Pancake Breakfast
Shout out to The Lakes Community Association! The District of Lake Country just got a message letting them know they had over 100 volunteers for the annual pancake breakfast and community clean-up this weekend!
The Lakes Community Association shared a specific thank-you to the District for providing hand wash and port-a-potty; to Lake Country Fire Department, firefighters M. Gesi and T. Mathesius, as well as RCMP Cst Eckland
and Community Policing Volunteers. The Lakes Community Association was pleased to partner with the Regional District of Central Okanagan for community clean-up month and to display information about Block Watch and Safe Communities.
Thank-you again for everyone’s support! What a fantastic community we live in.
